This 1995 BMW M3 Lightweight is one of 126 examples built for the single model year, all of which were finished in Alpine White over black upholstery and powered by a 3.0-liter S50 inline-six paired with a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Equipment includes 17″ forged alloy wheels, a raised rear spoiler, an adjustable splitter, tri-color graphics, carbon-fiber interior trim, and front sport seats.
All M3 Lightweight examples featured a slicktop roof and aluminum door skins, and they were finished in Alpine White III. This example features tri-color Motorsport flag decals on the left-front and right-rear corners as well as a raised rear spoiler, an adjustable front splitter, fog lights, and dual exhaust outlets.
Forged alloy 17″ Style 24 wheels are fitted with 235/40 Toyo Proxes R888R tires. The M3 Lightweight featured springs from the European-spec M3 that were shorter than the US-market versions. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes.
The cabin features manually adjustable sport seats trimmed in black cloth with patterned inserts. Carbon-fiber trim accents the dashboard and center console, and additional equipment includes power windows, an onboard computer, and M3-embroidered floor mats. All Lightweight cars were delivered with reduced noise insulation material and without air conditioning or a radio.
The leather-wrapped four-spoke steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature, fuel economy, and fuel level. The digital odometer shows 25k miles. The 3.0-liter S50B30US inline-six features VANOS variable valve timing and was factory rated at 240 horsepower and 225 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.
